Red McCombs

Red McCombs is CEO of Red McCombs Enterprises, the co-founder of Clear Channel Communications, Inc. and former owner of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. He has been very generous as a philanthropist and has been personally involved in many civic and charitable interests, many through the McCombs Foundation.

Mr. McCombs founded his first car dealership at age 25 and four years later became the youngest Edsel dealer in the United States. In 1958, he co-founded a San Antonio Ford dealership from which he would begin an automobile empire. He is currently involved in other businesses including real estate, ranching, communications and energy.

Among his many honors, Mr. McCombs is a Distinguished Alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin, a recipient of the Automotive Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Citation, the Colonel W.T. Bondurant Distinguished Humanitarian Award and a member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame. He is also a member of The University of Texas at Austin Capital Campaign Executive Council, former chairman of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors and a Board member of both The University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center Development Boards.

Mr. McCombs briefly attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and served in the Army in 1946 and 1947. After completing his service in the Army, Mr. McCombs enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin, attending the business school and law school.
